A Nation In Deceptive Turmoil

For a nation whose Constitution was formulated on Biblical principles, and whose founding Fathers followed these same principles, how have we as a nation sunk to such a degrading level of morality and personal attacks on our national leaders? Where have the Christians and the Church been to stem the downward trend that has gone on for many years? What has caused all this?

When our country was founded, the home, the school, and the Church together were the foundation of society and character building of children. These three elements reinforced each other in a positive way. The Minister of the Church usually was the teacher of the school, and the parents supported the Minister/Teacher in developing the character and spiritual life of the child. The McGuffey Reader was the primary teaching tool to train children how to read, but the underlying concept was to also teach moral, ethical and spiritual principles. This provided a solid base for the citizens and leaders of our nation.

The first of four conflicts to undermine this foundation came with the introduction of Darwin’s teaching of Evolution just prior to the Civil War. The Church lost this battle as well as ultimately our educational system. The second conflict came just before the turn of the twentieth century, with the liberal teaching of the Bible, called the Higher Critical view, which undermined the faith and trust Christians had in God’s revealed Word. The Church again lost this battle, and the result was that liberalism permeated every mainline denomination, as well as most all denominationally related colleges and universities. The truth of the Bible was lost to a subjective destruction of, “This saith the Lord”. During the past century the Church has had many splits over this conflict.

The third conflict entered our colleges and universities through the teaching of Humanism, which eliminates God, natural law, and creation, and joins with evolution in believing mankind evolved over millions of years, and mankind is the ultimate in existence; there is no higher being. The Church lost this battle as well, and today most all of the nations colleges and universities are controlled by evolution and humanism, and these teachings have permeated the nation’s educational system from beginning to end.

Today, our nation is engaged in a fourth and fatal conflict in society, and that is with the family. The basis of society is the family unit. God ordained this from the beginning. If we, as a nation lose this battle, society as we now know it, will cease to exist. There are two ways of killing a tree, cut off the branches one by one and it will ultimately die, but if one cuts it off at the base, all the branches are dead. The family is the base of society, and if it is fractured in the way it is currently being attacked, then our great nation will go the way of all the past nations. Is the Church going to stand by and allow this to happen, and lose the fourth battle, as we have done with the other three? Our nation desperately needs an amendment to our Constitution to preserve marriage and the family, for future generations.

The conflict that has engulfed our nation, is just a part of a wider more pervasive design by Satan against mankind, whom God created for three purposes: to be a reflection of His moral character, to fellowship with His creatures, and to place mankind over all the creation (Psalm 8:4-6). When Satan deceived Adam/Eve, all of mankind lost this threefold purpose. This is the reason God sent Jesus Christ into the world, to restore mankind to these purposes, through faith and trust in His redemptive work (Romans 5).

In the past two thousand years Satan has used three avenues to deceive mankind against God’s ultimate purposes, which God has declared will be restored (1 John 3:8 ; 2 Cor. 4:4-8; ; 1 Cor. 15:20-28)..

The first deception of Satan is with regard to the person of Jesus Christ. Satan has used false religions and cults to fill the religious desires of people into believing anything but the person of Jesus Christ (Matt. 24:4,5), and what He came to do for mankind (John 3:16; 5:24; 14:6). The second deception is in regard to sin. The selfishness of the human heart is played by Satan to get people to rationalize or justify any behavior, so that the consciousness of sin is done away with (Hebrews 3:13), and anything goes, which is what we see in society today. The third deception is that with regard to humanistic philosophy (Colossians 2:8), so that the mind centers upon self rather than God, and accepts humanistic and relativistic philosophies to justify any kind of behavior. These three deceptions are that which is driving mankind today, with all its evil consequences that we see in our country and the world.

What can and should the Church and Christians do to stem the tide of evil? One’s personal response is given in 2 Timothy 3:14-17. Then, in 1 Peter 3:13-17 there is a threefold response that both as individuals as well as the Church should give to stand for the truth, as given in the Bible: 1) the spiritual response, v. 14 – don’t be afraid; 2) the intellectual response, v. 15 – be ready to give a reasoned answer to what is asked of you, and 3) the personal response – have a good conscience, and manner of life. Then, Follow what is written in Ephesians 6:10-18, putting on the whole armor of God, and trust Him, praying daily for our country, and the truth of God’s revealed word, the Bible.

Indeed It Does

Rarely, have I written a book review as the main article in the newsletter, but given the nature of the various problems facing our country and society today, I am constrained to evaluate, and also urge you to read, “It Takes A Family”, written by a Senator from Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum. I have not often found a person in his position to be able to define and articulate so well, and with Biblical understanding, what is going on in our country and society, with recommendations that are given in this outstanding book. Though he has not written it from a Biblical perspective, his evaluations of our ills as well as suggestions for resolutions, are very much in line with Biblical principles.

As you might have guessed, this book is in contrast to a popular book, “It Takes A Village”. The basic premise of that book was that the village elders know best how to run the village, and that the citizens should follow their advice. The metaphor used here is in reality a picture of our country, in that the government knows best how to address the needs of its citizens, in most every aspect of life. Therefore, listen to the powers that be, for they know best.

Santorum, who is a Senator, and on the “inside”, states in his book that this is upside down. Instead of the development of our country and its problems being cared for from the top down, it really should be from the bottom up. His basic premise is, that the foundation of society should be formulated in the family. Here is where children’s minds and character are developed and molded, both by example and precept. Children need both a loving Father and Mother as examples and guides. This basic concept is consonant with Scripture.

He then advances the understanding, that as in the early days of our country, a child’s character development basically was formulated in the home, and was further reinforced through the Church and the school, which worked together in principle and behavior developing the child’s character. Then, when that child became an adult those character traits were manifest in the marketplace of life and work, so that integrity, trustworthiness, honesty, truthfulness, etc. were an integral part of that person’s life. In other words, he points out, that the sum total of the behaviors of our country and society, should be from the bottom up, not from the top down.

There is a subtle meaning in the book, “It Takes A Village”, that Santorum clearly points out, that everyone should understand, since it undermines our society in general, as well as it is contrary to Biblical principles. He weaves a thread of understanding throughout every aspect of his book, that a powerful influence and philosophy at work in our country, is to use our educational system (which is basically controlled by evolution, humanism, and relativism), to undermine the family, and bring the thinking of young minds under control of the government. This is done by subtly redirecting children’s normal desire to accept Parents teaching and influence, to that of the state, which, according to this theory, is far better. The ultimate purpose is to be able to better control the next generation away from the family and principles, to government influence and control. It doesn’t take one long to realize where this will ultimately lead.

If one looks at the Bible, it is plain that God intended the family to be the foundation of society, and for immature, naïve, and insecure children, to be raised to be fulfilled adults by parents who guided them in the right way, according to Biblical principles. It is also evident, that Satan is using the “Village” philosophy to undermine God’s purposes in life and the family, to destroy the basic unit of society. As Christians we need to understand these subtle, destructive forces in our society today. Santorum’s book analyses the various aspects of this damnable influence from his perspective, and helps us to understand and counter what we see today. I couldn’t recommend this book more highly. Every citizen and Christian in our country needs to read this book. The ISBN number is: 1-932236-29-5.

Is Meditation For You? (4th Q 2003)

John H. Stoll, Ph.D.

Executive Director, ASK, Inc.

With the many and various tugs and pulls that constantly confront us in today's world, one that has mushroomed in society is the concept of Meditation. Just what is it, how does it work, what is its goal, and is it right for Christians to engage in? Let us examine this mental gymnastic in light of the principles of God's word, so that one is able to determine whether it is right to accept it as part of one's lifestyle.

In a recent issue of Time magazine (August 4,2003) a lengthy article explained and evaluated Meditation and its impact on society today. It tried to connect it with Christianity after a fashion, to justify its acceptance among Christians. In the article, Meditation was pictured as a rather "neutral" idea and exercise that can be incorporated into various philosophies, religions, etc. If this is true, then there is merit, but if there is a deeper, more subtle concept to it, then one may be concerned as to how it impacts the Christian way of life.

Meditation is a form of relaxation in which one puts out of mind all the worries, the stress and strain of the everyday life, and concentrates on what is beautiful, relaxing and personally fulfilling for a given period of time. It is said to reduce stress, and is being used by businesses as a way to help employees enjoy their work more. Physicians are using it with patients to cure many types of physical, mental, and emotional problems. It is the belief that by sitting in silence for 10-40 minutes a day and actively concentrating on a breath or a word or an image, one can focus on the present over the past and the future, transcending reality by fully accepting that upon which is concentrated. Some who use it use what is called, "guided imagery". It is called Transcendental Meditation (or TM), and comes out of a confluence of Eastern mysticism and Western science.

With this brief understanding, it is worthy of considering how Meditation compares to Biblical principles relative one's thinking and what one meditates on. It is absolutely true that the Bible emphasizes meditation. Meditation is not a new concept, but an ancient one. However, the Bible's concept of meditation is quite different than that of other ancient religions, or the modern day counterpart.

The basic principle of the Bible for the Christian is found in meditating on the law of God (Joshua 1:8; Psalms 1:2; 119:97), God himself (Psalms 19:14),as well as those things that are true Biblical principles (Philippians 4:8). Nowhere in the Bible does it say one should or even could, put out of mind the cares of the everyday life, since they have a way of flooding back in when one tries to put them out. Rather, the character transforming power of the indwelling Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian, provides the necessary ability to shift one's thinking from the mundane, to higher spiritual concepts that change one's thoughts and character. This is far more permanent in the long run, than trying repeatedly to bring harmony and peace through imagery, mantra, etc. as in Transcendental Meditation.

Furthermore, the conflict in the world today is in the realm of one's thinking, and Satan desires to control the mind, in order to control behaviors. God's word says set your mind on things above (Colossians 3:2), so that the word of God by the power of the Holy Spirit will not only change the mind, but transform one's character and behaviors (2 Corinthians 3:18).

In order to help one understand the issues between Transcendental Meditation and Biblical meditation, it is important to understand that there are only two worldviews (i.e. one's thinking and commitment as to how one's life operates): a God centered worldview, or a self centered worldview. Everyone follows one or the other. Transcendental Meditation has its emphasis on the self, while the Bible's emphasis is on God. TM comes out of an Eastern mystical religious concept; the Bible is God's revelation to we who are his creation, to instruct us how to live a full life. The Bible is all for meditation, as proscribed in Biblical principles; Satan takes God's ways and twists them to get mankind to use meditation for his own selfish ends.

It is up to each individual to make the choice as to which worldview to follow, and then to meditate according to that chosen worldview for life. Everyone desires a full life, and God has said, "To be self centeredly minded is death (i.e. unfulfilled in life), but to be spiritually minded (i.e. God centered) is life and peace" (Romans 8:6). This is God's guarantee to all.

Is Prolonging Life In Our Hands?

For a number of weeks this year the Terri Schiavo case has consumed the minds of people, as to whether medical science should have kept her alive, or allowed her to die. It has involved arguments morally, spiritually, and politically. Many Christians have pondered the viability of whether she should have been kept alive or not. Therefore, it is proper for us to evaluate the variety of reasons from a Biblical perspective, as to how one comes to the right conclusion, since good people are on many sides of the issue, and it will impact personal decisions in the future.

The primary Biblical consideration is that a sovereign God is the giver as well as the taker of life. It ultimately rests in His hands (1 Corinthians 15:22,26; Romans 5:12; 1 Peter 4:6; Job 33:4). Granted that mankind can subvert the law of God by taking life through various means (e.g. murder, suicide, etc.), but this is not in the divine will of God. He wants each of us to trust him for every aspect of life, from birth to death.

The second consideration is that God should willingly be in control of our lives. Since he generated us, and regenerated us by his Spirit, we really are not our own, we belong to him by divine fiat (1 Corinthians 4:19,20). In Acts 17:28 it says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being” In other words, all that we are or ever hope to be is by God’s upholding each one of us, who are his children. Ecclesiastes 7:17 tells us, “Do not be excessively wicked and do not be a fool. Why should you die before your time?” Hebrews 1:3 notes that God, “Upholds all things by the word of his power”. Since we belong to him, we must submit the end of our life to his control.

One of the great debates in this process is whether the government (national or state) should have intervened in the whole affair, or that her life be left in the hands of the family and Doctors. Conscientious Christians were divided on this, and utilized Biblical injunctions to sustain their argument. So, it is important to consider the Biblical principles that pertain to how intrusive the government should be in personal matters that are of spiritual and Biblical importance to Christians. Fortunately, the Bible does not leave us in the dark on this, but clearly provides two significant principles to guide the Christian in such matters of conscience.

The primary principle is found in Romans 13:1-7 where it plainly states that as citizens of our country we are to be submissive to those in authority. The reason is that those who are in authority are there by the direct will of God, for whatever reason of God’s, that may be beyond our understanding as to why. Theoretically, they are there by God’s allowance to maintain law and order, for the welfare of the citizens. We realize that is not always the case, but our response should be to submit, and trust God to rectify the wrongs that rulers do. One wrong does not justify another wrong (i.e. take the law into one’s hands), to make things right. That is God’s prerogative to care for.

There is another principle in the Bible, that pertains to Christians as citizens of their country, who are commanded to obey the law. In Acts 4:19,20 ; 5:29 we have an historical account of the Apostles conflict with the Roman authorities. In this case it is noted that the Apostles adhered to a higher law than that of Rome, and that was to God and his principles. Therefore, there is a higher principle than that of submitting to earthly authorities, and that is that God’s law supersedes man’s law, and when the two conflict, and only then, does the Christian have a right to acknowledge the higher law of God. Colossians 1:18 tells us as Christians, “That in all things He (Christ) might have the pre-eminence.

Long before science provided us with life prolonging instruments, mankind did the best that could be done, to make a person comfortable in their last days and hours, and is it right for mankind today, to take control of what is rightly in God’s providence as to the “Days of our life”? This is important for every Christian to seriously consider, both for any individual, as well as for family members.

Is This The End?

Recently, the country and the world have experienced many and great disasters. Christians have been wondering if these cataclysmic events are a “wake-up” call from God, as to the soon return of Jesus Christ for the Christians. This contemplation is not without foundation from a scriptural point of view.

It is true that Jesus promised Christians he would return to take them to Heaven, someday, but he didn’t say when. However, he did provide what we may call “indicators” as to being able to recognize the imminency of his return. The main passages of scripture explaining Jesus’ teaching on the subject are Matthew 24 and Luke 21. Prophetically speaking, the next event in God’s program is for Jesus to return to take Christians to Heaven as seen in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. This event will be followed by the seven years of great Tribulation, and then Jesus Christ will again return to establish his everlasting kingdom on earth.

Jesus returned to Heaven following his resurrection over 2000 years ago, and Christians have been awaiting his return ever since. How are we able to determine the imminency of that return? Jesus gave the indicators in Matthew 24:4-8, when he stated there would be increasing catastrophes. The world has always had wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, etc. but never until the past century have we experienced the extent, numbers, frequency, intensity, and wide spreading of these catastrophes as we have over the past years. Jesus used a simple illustration to set the pattern for these catastrophes, when he stated in v.8, “all these are the birth pangs of sorrows”.

What he meant by that statement is noted in the fact that when a woman is about to give birth to a child, she has pains 15-10-5-1 minute apart. When the pains are 15 minutes apart there is rest between them, but when the pains are one minute apart, there is no rest between pains, and the birth is imminent. As one reflects upon the “pains”, i.e. the catastrophic events in our world today, I believe the “pains” are one minute apart. As a society, we live from catastrophe to catastrophe.

If one examines the earthquakes of the world over the past 500 years, there were relatively few until the 20th century, when they spiked exponentially high. The same case can be made for other catastrophes, such as the Tsunami tragedy, hurricanes, floods, tornados, wars, terrorism, dread diseases, divorces, sexual deviation, business failures and fraud, political hatred, parent/child conflict, and consternation among nations of the world. We have never witnessed such a number of, nor intensity of these conflicts in the world, as we do today.

Another indicator of the soon return of Jesus, is the nation of Israel, and its nationhood in 1948. Along with that has been the constant problem among the area nations relative to Jerusalem. Though there are many troublesome areas in the world, there is no greater than the problem of the city of Jerusalem. It is truly, the “stone in the world’s shoe”. Many believe that if the middle East situation between Israel and its surrounding Arab nations was settled, the world could handle the other problems. However, Jesus himself said of the people of Israel, “You shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake” (Matthew 24:9). The truth of the matter is, that peace will never come to the middle East or the world, until the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, comes to rule the world.

Jesus predicted that after he comes to take the Christians to Heaven, the world will experience Tribulation such as has never been witnessed before (Matthew 24:21).

When we consider all the catastrophic events taking place today, does this portend the imminent return of Christ, with the subsequent Tribulation? In Matthew 24:32-34, Jesus himself answered that question with a simple illustration of the fig tree. When a tree begins to put forth its leaves of Spring, you know Summer soon follows. So, likewise said he, “When you see all these things (i.e. catastrophes), know that he (i.e. Jesus Christ) is near, even at the door” (Matthew 24:33). Then, he added, “This generation shall not pass, until all these things be fulfilled.”

If the budding of the Fig tree, meaning the formation of the nation of Israel in 1948 , along with all the catastrophic calamities that have transpired in the past 60 years, is the “budding”, and we reckon a generation to be about 70 years, does this mean that Christ will return very soon? It seems quite probable.

In Luke 21:25-28, Jesus noted there would be signs in the sun, the moon, distress among nations with perplexity, and the sea and waves roaring, along with people’s hearts failing them for fear, that when all these became evident, and we witness every one of them today, that, “When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, for your redemption draws nigh.” As of now there are no more signs yet to transpire before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When traveling by car a long distance to a large city, one does not need the odometer in the car, nor even a road map, to let one know when they are approaching the city. Traffic increases, urbanization grows greater, noise increase, etc. and one can sense the approaching city. So, likewise, as Christians we are able to read the “signs” Jesus has given us along the highway of life, and with confidence we are able to say, “Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus “.

Is This the Last Generation?

Christians have pondered as to whether the generation now living may be the final or last generation before the Lord returns to take Christians home to Heaven. Believing that the Bible definitely teaches the return of the Lord before the great Tribulation (Revelation 3:10; 1 Thess. 5:9), the following Biblical considerations provide strong evidence as to the soon coming of the Lord.

1) The Rebirth of the Nation of Israel: Isaiah 66:8; Jeremiah 23:3; 29:14; Ezek. 11:17. After 2500 years without being a nation, the nation of Israel was born in 1948. In referring to the nation of Israel at the time of the end, Jesus Christ stated in Matt. 24:34 that the generation that sees all this coming into being, shall not pass until all the elements listed in the context (Matt. 24:1-33) be fulfilled. Does this refer to our generation?

2) Jerusalem No Longer Under Gentile Rule: The Jews have not controlled the city since 70 AD, when Rome destroyed the Temple, until 1967 AD in the Six Day War…Jesus stated the city would be, “Trampled down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke 21:24). Jerusalem is under Jewish control for the first time in two thousand years.

3) Jews Returning to Their Homeland: In Jeremiah 23:7,8 the Prophet states that God will being His people out from the lands where He scattered them, “And they shall dwell in their own land.” Since World War II we have seen an influx of millions of Jews returning to Israel from many countries.

4) The Explosion of Knowledge: Daniel 12:4 predicted the tremendous increase in knowledge “At the time of the end,” which is evident with the coming of the computer age and the increase of knowledge beyond all imagination. The past century has seen more advancement in science and knowledge, than all of past history combined.

5) International Instant Communication: Before the advent of television, people wondered how that which the apostle John described in Revelation 11:3, 7-10, as to everyone seeing the “Two witnesses” in all the world at the same time, could possibly be. Then came television followed by international satellites, so that today one is able to instantly see events anywhere in the world. This was not possible 50 years ago. as it is today.

6) Days of Deception: In Matt. 24:4,5,24, Jesus described the great deception of the end time. He noted that the number one problem in the world would be the deception concerning Himself, by Satan’s influence. Today we see many and varied evidences of Satanic deception in Secular Humanism, New Age philosophy, Evolution, the Occult, the Apostate church, etc. The Church which denies the power of God, is practicing deception with a veneer of Christianity.

7) Famine, Pestilences, Earthquakes: Matt. 24:7,8 describes all these things coming upon the final generation just prior to the return of Christ. History has recorded all of these disturbances throughout history, but in the past generation we have witnessed an exponential increase of these elements far greater than all history past put together. Jesus said in Matt. 24:8, that all these disturbances would be, “The birth pains of sorrow.” He used a common expression of a woman’s birth pains, as nature telling her when the child would be born. When pains are minutes apart, there is rest in between from the pains, but when they are a minute apart, the birth is imminent. Today the birth pains of the world (i.e. the many and varied catastrophes, wars, diseases, etc.) are about a minute apart. We live from crisis to crisis almost daily.

8) Plague in the Middle East: In Zechariah 14:12-15, the Prophet describes the “plague” of the end time, as he called it, that would cause, “Their flesh to consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongues shall consume away in their mouth.” How could this happen was unknown until the atomic bomb was developed. The heat generated by that explosion could easily produce this phenomenon. Zechariah’s “plague” is no longer a mystery. Atomic warfare will probably be used in the Middle East sometime soon.

9) “As in the Days of Noah”: In Matt. 24:36,37, speaking of the Tribulation of the end time in the context, Jesus pointed out that His coming would be marked by the behaviors of mankind that would be characteristic of the days of Noah. In Genesis 6:5 it says that in his day mankind's wickedness was very great and that, “Every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” If one reads the daily newspaper or watches TV, it is evident that wickedness is all pervasive in our world. How much longer is God able to tolerate extreme wickedness of mankind, before the Lord Jesus Christ comes to take the Christians home to Heaven, and reap judgment upon this wicked world?

These are the reasons I believe we are living in the last generation before the great Tribulation of the end time. It is important for one to be ready for this great event (See: Daniel 12:1-3; Romans 10:9,10; John 5:24).

Three Major Adversaries

As one views events in the world today, it must be acknowledged that conditions are worsening day by day. Conflict everywhere, and in various forms, from the highest echelons of government to the family and individuals, is the order of the day. Over the past generation what has caused this to come to pass, and what, if anything are we able to do to stem the onrush of evil?

In order to properly evaluate the conditions evident in our world today, one must primarily recognize that the Bible states this would come to pass (Matthew 24:4-7; 2 Timothy 3:1-7,13), as well as that the basic problem is in the spiritual realm, between God and Satan (1 John 3:8; Ephesians 6:11,12; John 8:44), which enters the world in which we live, through evil people, empowered by Satan.

The human avenue through which Satan’s destructive purposes have come, has been three philosophies over the past 150 years, that are all pervasive today. The average person is generally unaware of them, yet they are basically controlling our educational system from kindergarten through the university. Education is the foundation of adult character and behavior, in family structure, business, politics, art, theatre, the marketplace, etc. It is the controlling factor in society, and most everything hinges on the education of the individual, that prepares one for life and the choices one makes.

These three philosophies are: Evolution, Humanism, and Relativism. Together they undermine the absolute truth of God’s word, and set mankind against anything that would direct one to God’s plan for people, through the spiritual life in Christ, and the maturing of a person by applying the principles of God’s Word, the Bible, to living a full and productive life in society.

Though these philosophies are not new; they go back thousands of years, the modern day application of them began about 150 years ago with Darwins introduction of evolutionary theory of the origin of mankind. This theory, which has no scientific foundation, still permeates most all of our educational system today. It is totally contrary to the Biblical account of the creative acts of God, as recounted in Genesis. At the very outset of beginnings, Satan tried to undermine the sovereignty of a creative God. This set mankind against the truth of the Bible, at its very foundation. The second philosophy is that of Humanism. Simply stated it propounds the theory that mankind is the ultimate, and there is nothing higher than mankind. This theory has no basis in fact, but centers the ultimate and absolute worth of everything on the person, which emphasizes the ego centeredness of us all. The result today is a contributing factor to the animosity, the divisiveness, and rancor that we see evident in all aspects of society.

Finally, a philosophy that has gradually come into prominence over a number of years has been Relativism. This means that there is no such thing as absolute truth, but that all is relative, which is to say, that what is true as deemed by every individual, is true for that person. This does away with any objective standard of truth, as well as opens the door for self centered mankind to rationalize and justify whatever he desires to do. It then becomes an amoral world for that person, and alleviates any guilt one may have, as to behaviors.

Again this flies in the face of any Biblical injunction, such as the Ten Commandments (and one can see why the push is on today to get rid of them), as well as what Jesus Christ stated in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes unto the Father but by me”. The two books of 2nd and 3rd John speak of the truth of God’s Word, and 3rd John 4 says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth”. If mankind is to be able to live and work in harmony with one another, there has to be an objective standard of truth that unites. In our country is has historically been the Constitution, which was founded upon the absolute tenants of the Ten Commandments. However, today the conflict is between those who strictly interpret it, as the Founding Fathers intended, and those who are “Activists”, seeking to change it to their own interpretation, which is relativism. This is why we have such division within our own country. When one reflects back upon the development of our country, it is easy to see that the undermining philosophies of Evolution, followed by Humanism, and now through Relativism, that have finally percolated throughout our public school system, with today’s adults fully indoctrinated in these three philosophies, it is no wonder we have the bitterness and the stalemate in every aspect of our society. Two words, “tolerance” and “diversity” as well as “political correctness” are changing the human landscape today, with these examples molding the character development of our children. What does this bode for the future, when these children are in control? The long term result of all this will be a repeat of what was evident in the nation of Israel, when they abandoned God and his principles, as stated in Judges 21:25, “every man did that which was right in his own eyes”. Today, everyone wants to do his own thing, without consequences either for himself or society in general. Ultimately anarchy results, and since mankind was never created by God to live in that kind of environment, unless the Lord intervenes, which He will (Matthew 24:22), either annihilation or dictatorship will ensue.

Thankfully, God is sovereign, and for the sake of his children, the Christians, Jesus Christ will soon return to set up his kingdom, which will have no end (Isaiah 9:7; Luke 1:33), and he will be Lord of all. Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus (Rev. 22:20).
